I’m about 15,000 words into California Wine and throwing obstacles at my heroine. Her nice tame life isn’t working the way she’s programmed it to work and now her best friend thinks she should see a shrink!
The man she loves lives in Italy and the one that’s close…well…you’ll have to read the book to find out how that turns out.
It’s tough getting the plot line down–I’m writing on through so I don’t lose the ideas. But I go back and look at the writing and frown. It seems lifeless to me. Someone on my RWA Pro group recommended Spunk & Bite: A Writer’s Guide to Bold, Contemporary Style, so I’m reading a chapter a day, like vitamins. It’s chock full of great ideas, but ideas that will cause me to agonize over each word. So not helpful when you’re laying down words as rapidly as you can.
Tomorrow the moving van comes and we begin our trek to Montana. I’ll have lots of time to think about writing, but no time to actually do it. Bleagh!
See you in the next chapter….
