Sweet Montana Christmas releases December 14, 2015!
Sue Anne Devereaux escaped the stifling society of Sugar Land, Texas for the big sky of Missoula, Montana and fell in love with the state. Investing her father’s trust fund in Sweets Montana, she intends to become the best chocolatier in the state. An unexpected kiss from a stranger at the airport, a man who likes lima beans no less, makes her question if chocolate alone can give her life the sweetness she wants.
Zach Crippen is stuck as a security guard at Missoula’s tiny airport because of a mistake he’d made at a larger airport. He’ll do anything it takes to get back his standing in the airport industry. Montana is simply a step along the way. A casual fling—no strings attached—would be fine with him, but the quirky woman who makes the best chocolate he’s ever tasted deserves more than he can give her.
Background
This story evolved from a Missoula Businesswomen’s Social held at our airport about a year ago. It’s a small, friendly kind of place, and we got to see the world beyond the gates, ticket counters, and lobby. It got me to wondering … what would happen if a airport security guy from a major international airport … like … say Denver … was forced to take a job in a small city airport accessed primarily by puddle-jumpers and private aircraft?
I was stymied for a heroine for a while. Then I realized a challenge for a serious security guy would have to be quirky, with an occupation that would force her to have deep roots in Missoula. My chocolatier was born!
Excerpt
“Thanks for your help, officer. I owe you. My chocolate shop is opening in February”—at least she hoped it was—“Stop by, and I’ll give you a sample.”
“Nice. My mother used to make chocolate.”
An odd tone in his voice made her look up at him. Several expressions crossed his face, like the rapidness of clouds chasing each other around the valley. She stared into his eyes, trying to decipher what the frowns and smiles meant.
“I shouldn’t do this,” he said, “but it appears I’m going to.”
The realization of what he was going to do hit seconds before his lips landed on hers.
